Pact, An Adoption Alliance Foster Parents

We think that continuity and family are essential for the long-term health of children; we understand and acknowledge the importance of people who love children along their paths towards these goals. Pact is a non-profit organization whose mission is to serve children of color in need of adoption or who are growing up in adoptive families. In every case, the child is our primary client. We believe that to serve the child we must support and serve his or her foster parents by offering the very best resources to help them cope with a world whose attitudes too often reflect "adoptism" and racism. We are a multicultural organization; from top to bottom, our staff and board of directors are racially diverse and reflect all positions of the adoption triad. We believe that same-race adoption is easier for children and that transracial adoption can work beautifully. We believe adopted children and adults deserve as much information and connection to their birth heritage as possible, so that adoption can be something other than an either/or situation demanding a choice between one family or cultural history and another. We believe children thrive when they have the opportunity and support to explore all aspects of their identity.
