Celebrate Día del los Muertos

Pact believes in respectful celebrations of cultural holidays that honor the traditions of people's heritage. With the goal of honoring the D’a de los Muertos tradition, we invite you to take the opportunity as a family to join us by observing and honoring this traditional MesoAmerican holiday.

The MesoAmerican holiday of Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, takes place over the first two days of November. Its origins are a mixture of Indigenous traditions and a set of Catholic holidays. While the holiday's observances include spending time in cemeteries, making altars to the dead, and displaying artistic representations of skulls and skeletons, the occasion is festive, rather than morbid. Death isn't seen as the end of one's life, but as a natural part of the life cycle; the dead continue to exist much as they did in their lives, and come back to visit the living every year.

Things to Bring:

1. a cake (or other dessert) to contribute to the cakewalk
2. a feast item to serve five families. If your last name starts with
           A - H please bring a special side dish
           I - Z please bring a special main dish
3. Bring items to place on the altar such as marigolds (the flower of the dead. Flowers are the symbol of life and we offer flowers to the dead), pictures of a loved dead one (person, pet, or group of people eg victims of war) or an item that represents their loved dead one (eg. a toy sailboat if loved sailing, a bone for their dog, etc). Pictures should not include images of the living.

$25.00 per member family
Guest children (attending with your family but not part of your family) are $10.00 each.
